Hey you all. I don't really know what to write here. Sometimes joining a new community is nerve-racking, you never know how people will take it. I actually have a couple of things to say, don't worry about this being too long I will place it behind an LJ cut...
hello there everyone! I noticed that this community hasn't been posted to in awhile. So if you are interested in a Kim Harrison/Rachel Morgan message board that is organized, and has alot of great people you should join us! :)
Another push for another amazing book that I just have to gush about. Lilith Saintcrow's new book, Working for the Devil is officially out! This is an excellent read and everyone I've shared it with so far has loved it.
I know I've been pushing pushing pushing this book in the communities, but I wanted to just remind everyone now that it is officially out. Here is the snippet I wrote after I first read it, for those who would like to hear what the story is about:
Dante "Danny" Valentine is a Necromance in a dark, urban future filled with psionic supernaturals and anti-grav vehicles. She can summon spirits of the dead for brief periods of time. She can also tap into psionic energy called Power and she totes a badass katana (japanese sword). She is also a bounty hunter, which helps her pay off her mortgage in between Necromance gigs. But when a demon shows up on her doorway and drags her to Hell, she is given a mission by the devil himself. She has to track down a demon and kill him. She's ticked because she's not an assassin, but she really has no choice, so she reluctantly agrees...until she finds out she has a personal score to settle with her target.
Let me just tell you...it's great. It is 2 parts old-school Anita Blake combined with 1 part Dead Witch Walking and 1 part Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld. And don't let yourself be thrown off by the whole futuristic, anti-grav hovercar thing...it is just a setting for supernatural, paranormal, demon/psionic awesome action/story/hunt/thrill/etc. It is fantastic and I cannot wait for everyone else to read it and agree with me. It just makes me feel all warm and book-nerdy inside. :-D
So go, my pretties. Fly out and buy this book, read it, have a bookgasm, and report back. Tell your friends and tell me if you enjoy it because I love to hear when my suggestions are well-received.
Within the next 24 hours our leaders will vote on a subject that could very well effect how future novels will be published. If you live in a state that has a representative on the board for this - EMAIL them NOW and tell them how silly this new trademark law is.
I read "Dead Witch Walking" a couple months ago and fell madly into it. My library doesn't have the second book and I can't find it anywhere! Curses! I'm Sarah and I'm new to this community (obviously)
Sorry for the x-post, but I just wanted to let everyone know about my new book blog. It's a blog for "dark fantasy" fans. That's my own little term for the Laurell K. Hamilton/Kelley Armstrong/Kim Harrison/Charlaine Harris kind of books.
Anyway, I'll be reviewing books in or around the genre and I thought some people here might like to know about it, or want to spread the word on it.
Please head over and join if you are still interested.
However, please note that posting is being moderated until I can get onto a non-work computer long enough to put the finishing touches on. I want to get this comm up and running before people lost interest or someone else decided to start one, but I don’t want to open it up for posting until I am able to come back (I started creating it on my lunch break at work) and make sure everything is set up properly. THIS WILL ONLY BE FOR A DAY OR SO, so please feel free to head over and join immediately if you like.
Thanks everyone! Can’t wait for the fun to begin!!
